TOMS wedding shop

November 28, 2011

Hey ladies! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving break – I know that I’m about ready to pop from all of the food I consumed over the past few days. Anyway, as I was online shopping yesterday while still digesting my Thanksgiving feast, I paid TOMS.com a visit and was thrilled to find out that they have a WEDDING SHOP!

They have their classic style available in more wedding-y patterns and colors, including petal and ivory grosgrain for the gals and black leather for the guys. Not to mention that incorporating these trendy kicks in your wedding also gives back to the community! I’m sure you’re all already well aware, but for every pair of TOMS purchased, TOMS will provide a pair of shoes for a child in need.

How great would these puppies be as wedding party gifts? Not only are they comfy, cute and functional, but they’re a great way to incorporate a charitable cause into your big day. Plus, your bridesmaids and groomsmen can wear them well beyond your wedding. Perfecto!

Here are my faves:

Ivory Women's Glitters

Petal Grosgrain Women's Classics

Pewter Sequins Women's Wedges

Pink Women's Glitters

Ivory Grosgrain Women's Wedges

Black Perforated Leather Men's Classics

Highland Black Men's Botas

White Canvas Men's Classics

My personal faves are these bad boys – not in the wedding shop specifically, but how fun are they?

Are any of you ladies having your bridesmaids and groomsmen rock TOMS on your big day?

Ankle boots for your wedding?

October 18, 2011

Hey, why not? They’re absolutely adorable and perfectly functional after your wedding day.

Plus, um, they are like so in right now.

Modern and edgy, ankle boots are a great option for you winter brides. Choose lighter shades for a more polished, chic look, or go all out with statement picks in bold or brilliant hues.

Here are some of my faves:

Wedding party headwear, part I

September 9, 2011

Traditionally, the bride is the only member of the wedding party to wear a significant headpiece. Why not the rest of the wedding party?

Not to take the spotlight off the bride here, but there are some absolutely fab.u.lous headpieces out there for bridesmaids and groomsmen too! In Part I of this series, I will be sharing some gorgeous bridesmaid headgear. Check out my picks below!

Are you having your bridesmaids wear something pretty on their coifs for your big day? Also, if you’re looking for a fun bachelorette party idea, check out the headpieces that Heather and her gals donned for her last night out as a “single” lady!

Will you be my bridesmaid?

July 7, 2011

For your wedding you want to be surrounded with your very best gal pals.  These girls will help you plan, construct, and hold your wedding dress up when you pee :) .  These special women will help keep your sanity and make the wedding and planning process fun and enjoyable.  They will laugh with you, cry with you, plan your bridal and bachelorette parties.  These ladies love you as you should love them.  You know who I’m talking about… your beloved BRIDESMAIDS!!!!!

Well, they’re not your bridesmaids YET.  So how will you ask them?  With a phone call? *Yawn*… BORING and uninspiring.  Of course they’ll say yes, but why not ask them in a special way?  A memorable way.  A way that makes them feel special.  One you actually put a little thought and effort into.  They’re worth it, right??

Below, are a few fun and creative ways to ask your gal pals to be your bridesmaids.   You don’t need to use one of these but hopefully they’ll get the wheels turning.

  Good luck ladies!! Happy planning!!

These adorable paperdoll style bridesmaids cards are from Once Wed.  They have a lovely step by step tutorial that makes this project seem super easy!  What bridesmaid could say no to these?

This is a much simpler way to ask your bridesmaids to be a part of your special day but still just as sweet.  Way better than a phone call :) !  via All you need is love events

Cute Will You Be My Bridesmaid Ideas? : wedding will you be my bridesmaid asking bridesmaids IMG 5171

This bride-to-be “proposed” to each of her bridesmaids with a ring pop.  She got down on one knee, popped the question then give each girl a personal letter explaining why it was important to her that they were a part of her wedding.  Such a sincere way to ask.  I love this idea from the Future Mrs Martin on the Weddingbee board.

Are your future bridesmaids tea or coffee drinkers?  If so a keepsake mug would be perfect for them.  You can order yours at Pressed Orange’s Etsy shop

Having a vintage wedding?  These lacy spools are super charming. I think it’d be cute to have a tea party with all your bridesmaids-to-be and give these as favors.  They’d look sweet sitting on each plate and would catch the girls by surprise.  via Emmaline Bride

Uh… hello cuteness!  Is this not adorable??  I think this is a super cute way to ask your BFFs to be your bridesmaids.  Who doesn’t want to be a part of a wedding that starts out this clever???  Lovin’ this idea from Mequeni Creative Designs!

I saved one of my favorites for last.  I think this bridesmaid gift box is a fab idea!  What a creative way to ask your girls to be in your bridal party.  I found this over at Project Wedding and… YAY, they have a tutorial for this adorable acordian style gift box!!!

NewlyMaid

June 14, 2011

Happy random Tuesday! Today’s post comes courtesy of my very own mother. She clued me in to NewlyMaid, a new service from The Dessy Group that offers bridesmaids a chance to exchange their gently worn dresses for a discount on one of NewlyMaid’s signature LBD’s. How cool is that?

How does it work, you ask? Simple — create an account on NewlyMaid.com and order a pre-paid mailer to send in your old dress. To see a list of dress manufacturers NewlyMaid accepts, click here.

Once NewlyMaid receives your old frills, your dress will be inspected to make sure it meets the NewlyMaid criteria. If it does, you will be notified via email that your dress has been accepted and that special pricing has been turned on for your account. To view your special pricing and make your first NewlyMaid purchase, simply sign in to your NewlyMaid.com account.

Now, the good part — my fave NewlyMaid frocks! It’s also worth mentioning that you can trade in your NewlyMaid LBD for a new style – as often as you’d like! Visit the FAQ’s for more details.

You may also be wondering what will become of your old trade-ins. NewlyMaid has two wonderful ways of re-purposing your unwanted bridesmaid uniforms:

Recycling

Qualifying dresses that are 100% polyester will be recycled using the latest technology. For the first time, new methods are available to break down polyester to create new polyester yarn. The new filament is woven into new polyester fabric and then used to manufacture new garments. NewlyMaid is participating in a program with Unifi to recycle polyester. Future styles will include certified Unifi Repreve fabrics. To learn more about Repreve, click here.

Charity

NewlyMaid has partnered with Clothes4Souls, which will be the recipient of all garments in good wearable condition. Please click here to learn more about how this organization brings shoes and apparel to people in need around the world.

So ladies, I encourage you to cleanse your closets and take part in NewlyMaid’s wonderful, environmentally-conscious dress recycling program. You’ll be glad you did!
