XO XO

What’s a wedding without some hugs and kisses?  I love a little XO detail so decided it was time for some EX OH inspo!

Isn’t this hug & kiss confetti a cute touch?  You could make your own in colors that coordinate with your wedding.

Oh, I will definitely be making some of these XO gift tags.  A sweet touch for gifts given for weddings, showers, or anniversaries.

Fortune tellers

February 15, 2011

found at PaperSeed

Do you remember these?  I loved fortune tellers.  I have probably folded over a hundred of  these in my lifetime and have spent countless hours giggling with my girlfriends over the fortunes they told.  They were are so much fun!

I recently saw these incorporated into a wedding.  My inner child was delighted and urged me to surf around a bit more.  To our surprise, fortune tellers (apparently also called “cootie catchers”) seem to be pretty popular in the wedding world.  I had no idea!!  But now that I do, it’s an idea I ADORE!

Before, I show you what I found while browsing, I’d like to direct you to a couple of fortune teller folding tutorials.  The following links have illustrated instructions and  I’m sure once you brush up on your folding technique, you’ll be folding like a 5th grader all over again!

If you plan to make your own, I found a great fortune teller template on Ruffled Click here to download the template.

Although, I recommend making your own… If you’d rather, fortune tellers can be purchased by online vendors. Here are two you could look into.

At this wedding the fortune tellers were placed on the cocktail tables.  What an adorable ice-breaker.  Would definitely have guests mingling and enjoying each others knowledge, or lack thereof, on the bride and groom.

Fortune tellers could make fab favors.  I love how they pop on this table and think about how much fun your guests could have if everyone had their own.  The more questions you include, the longer the entertainment will last!

A fortune teller menu… YES PLEASE!  They add a little extra flavor to each place setting don’t they?  What a darling idea!

Coffee craze

January 12, 2011

So, today I am off to a sluggish start.  I’m on my second cup of coffee and I haven’t even been up an hour. I am nothing without my coffee, which is what inspired today’s post.  A delicious cup of Joe is on the top of my list of things I could NOT live without. While I was pouring my coffee (wishing it was Dunkin Donuts) I had a thought……. how about a coffee inspired wedding?  I know I’m not the only coffee lover, so for all you coffee connoisseurs… here is some inspiration.

DIY – Cake stand

December 2, 2010

Looking for a cake stand?  Why not make your own?  Here are a few great DIY stand ideas I have come across during my daily blog stalking!  :)

DIY CAKE STAND #1

I found this over at Hostess with the Mostess.  I thought it was very cute and extremely easy to customize.  It’s probably the trickiest to assemble (It’s not really that hard, especially if you’re a crafty gal… or guy) but oh-so worth the effort.

Materials needed:

 - Corrugated cake boards
 - Canned goods (unopened)
 - Several sheets of scrapbooking-weight paper
 - Tools: x-acto knife, ruler, cutting mat, pencil, rubber bands, non-toxic glue

For a full tutorial at  Hostess with the Mostess, click here.

DIY CAKE STAND #2

This one is fairly simple and again, customizable.  I found this idea at Eat*Drink*Pretty.  You can visit the site to see their full tutorial.

Materials needed

- 1 plate
- 1 candle stick or goblet
- Epoxy
- 1 heavy book
- 1 can of spray paint
- a sheet or paper to protect surfaces while painting

Look how lovely the finished project is.  This looks totally store-bought and is a great holiday gift idea!

DIY CAKE STAND #3

I found this tree-ific stand at Project Wedding. Visit them for a tutorial if you’d like to attempt this one.  It is a great idea for the fall wedding season and I just love the carved initials!!

DIY CAKE STAND #4

This cake stand was saved for last because it is my personal favorite!  It is similar to the 2nd but with a vintage twist, which I LOVE!

What you would need to replicate this beauty…

  • vintage plate
  • glass candlestick
  • crystal drawer pull (this is optional)
  • epoxy glue (slow drying if you are making more than one vintage cake stand)
  • ruler
  • Sharpie
  • Popsicle stick
  • Q-tip
  • something to mix your epoxy in
  •

I found this over at Intimate Weddings.  Go to their site for a great tutorial on how to make your very own vintage cake stand.

    ******************************

Well, there you have it…. Cake stands galore!  I hope you love these as much as I do.   If you are super cool and decide to tackle any of these, please PLEASE send me a photo.  If it’s fab, I’ll post it in Libby Land!!!

    Wheat is sweet

    November 30, 2010

As you know, I am always on the look out for a fab inexpensive DIY project.  So, today I am ordering some wheat from Save-on-crafts.  For under $20 you can get about 4 bundles shipped to you.  (You may also purchase wheat from other online vendors, your local farmer’s market, or find a field to pick your own).  I’m not 100% sure what I am going to do with my wheat yet.  All I  DO know is that it will be spectacular and more importantly, budget friendly!  :)

Here is what inspired me to make my purchase today…

Look how nice just a few stalks look placed in a mason jar.

You could use a vase if you prefer.

This is one of my favorites.  I LOVE the clean lines and the simplicity of this centerpiece.

One single stalk on a plate… Yes, please.

Rather than a napkin ring, why not dress up your napkins with this clever idea.  Super cheap and very seasonal.

I’ve noticed that wreaths aren’t as budget friendly as they should be.  To save some money, make your own.

    Posted on Weddingbee

Martha strikes again!  Check out this wreath on Martha Stewart’s website.  If you adore it as much as I do, there is a tutorial on how to make your own.

I am just crazy about these sprays.  What a darling way to dress up some chairs.  GREAT idea for a fall wedding.

Another great idea for a wedding…  Line the aisle chairs or pews with some wheat clusters.

While I’m on wheat wedding ideas, check out how lovely these are.  I’m a big fan of untraditional bouquets and boutonneires.

OMG, I fall more and more in love with Etsy every day.  Look at this gorgeous head-piece I found. PERFECT for a fall bride.

Have you ever heard of wheat weaving?  Okay, me either…. but something wheat woven would make fabulous little wedding favors.  Don’t you agree??  They could be placed on everyone’s plate to dress up the table.  Or even better, fasten a name and table number to make an escort card.

Posted on Crafty Pod.  Visit their site for a wheat weaving tutorial.

Okay, I know this isn’t a craft idea but you know me…. I just can’t pass up an amazing ring shot!

    A New England wedding

    July 14, 2010

I just stumbled upon this gem of a wedding over at Green Wedding Shoes, and I absolutely love the simplicity of everything. From the bride’s gorgeous conch shell necklace to the bridal party’s cowboy boots and adorable pinwheel bouquets, Jagger Photography left no moment of this whimsical seashore wedding to the imagination. I love the photos of the clambake – how New England!

    Question from a Reader

    December 1, 2009

I love when I get e-mails from readers, keep them coming.  Mel sent me this e-mail and I thought it would be best answered in a post ;)

    Dear Libby,
My wedding is in the spring and I am struggling to find something clever for table numbers.  I know it’s one silly detail but I want something different.  You seem to collect all things fabulous,  can you send me some links of the best ideas you have seen?
    Thanks, Mel

Thanks for the e-mail Mel, here is some of the best I have seen….

Take classic pictures from the city/town and add your table numbers.

    Found on Erickson Design Photostream

I have been in love with this idea since the day it came into my Google Reader.  The guest name is printed on the outside of the envelope and when they open the card they see their table number.

Found at Penned and Pretty, a GREAT source for invitation and paper ideas.

Keep it simple…and colorful.  I like this because it’s so simple but you can still see that time was spent and the detail was well thought out.

Why do we have to use numbers?  I love this idea of using musicians you and your fiancé love, nice personal touch.

Pigeon love.  These numbers coordinate with the entire wedding invitation suite and are a great way to tie it all together.  I like matchy matchy things ;)

Wine bottle numbers, very classic and so easy to do.  I like the color it adds to the table.  You can even tie these numbers to vases.

I think this idea is a little Save by the Bell but I still love it.  Table numbers that highlight the years of your life, this would work really well for couples who have been together for years before marrying.

    Found on Spamberly Photostream

This is a  great way to incorporate your pet into the wedding.

    Found on CryBabyInks’s Photostream

There are only so many things you can do with engagement photos why not make them even more meaningful and get table numbers out of them?  You can get really clever with this idea and just use a blank poster board and Photoshop the numbers in.
