KAZOOS!!

April 13, 2012

Growing up my sister and I would drive my mother crazy with the hum of our kazoos.  So much so that one day they mysteriously vanished!  (Don’t worry Mom, I’m almost over it! haha! )

:)

Seriously… they were are soooo much fun!  That’s why when I came across them used as wedding favors I was instantly amused.  Could you imagine attending a wedding with kazoo favors?  They are unexpected, a bit quirky and can bring out the inner child in anyone.  In my opinion… THE perfect favor!

Not only are they fantastic fun but inexpensive!  You could find them at the dollar store or personalize them for a low price here.

You could place your kazoos in a basket.

Wedding + Popcorn = YUM

March 19, 2012

So I recently invested in a hot air popcorn popper and let me tell you – I’m obsessed. Not only are these little white miracle puffs delicious, but you can eat whole buckets of them late night and not feel guilty because they are so darn light…and good for you! (Whaddup whole grain.)

Healthy snacking benefits aside, this movie theater treat adds a fun and playful element to any wedding: from full-scale popcorn bars to DIY favors, check out these clever ways to incorporate some whole grain goodness and make your reception POP! …sorry, I had to…

Popcorn bar

Fun twist on the candy bar – a popcorn buffet! Via K&S Photography

Put out simple trays of plain white popcorn and let your guests choose their own seasonings to doctor up the kernels. Garnish suggests presenting a spread of cajun mixes, seasoned salts and cinnamon sugar – and I’ll add my own personal favorite, white cheddar seasoning, as another must-have.

DIY Gumball Machine favors

November 11, 2011

I came across this adorable  DIY gumball machine tutorial over at Tammy Mitchell and instantly fell in love.  It is so cute and a fabulously fun favor idea.  I mean seriously, how sweet would these look at everyone’s place setting or lined up on the seating card table.  Of course they wouldn’t work for a formal wedding but they’d be a lot of fun at a laid back more causal event.  OR if you are having children at your wedding, they’d make perfect favors for the tots.  They’d LOVE them!  These DIY gumball machines seem super simple to make and can be easily customizable to suit your wedding palette!

Materials needed:

small terra-cotta pot and base

small round votive holder

spray paint

E6000 adhesive

small wooden balls

gumballs

Spray paint the pot base and knob and let dry.

Next, glue the  knob to the base and the votive holder to the pot.

 Then, fill with gumballs!

Isn’t this a wonderful favor idea?  And how cute would it be with a little tag that says something like….

“Hope you have a ball!”

“We’re stuck on each other”

“Thank chew for coming!”

Can you think of any others???

Chocolate-tasting wedding favors

September 19, 2011

Loving these DIY chocolate-tasting wedding favors from Something Turquoise (one of my new fave blogs, btw). Check out the full tutorial over at her blog!

How cute? So easy to match to your wedding colors, and leaves plenty of room for creative license. I’m thinking mini cupcakes, chocolate covered pretzels, or other candied goodies. Yum!

Finny & Zook

August 29, 2011

Who says bold graphic prints with nursery rhyme phrases are for kids? Not me, not when they look as adorable as these prints by Finny and Zook.

I could spend hours sifting through this adorable little Etsy shop, but I already have my work cut out deciding which prints I want to order. How cute would some of these be as wedding decor, centerpieces or even wedding favors?

Want to get your guests something they’ll really use after your big day? What about these adorable nautical notepads by Linda and Harriet that I found over at Parcel Post? Perfection for any nautical- or beach-themed wedding. Tie ‘em up with a bit of hemp or twine with a small tag that expresses your thanks, and your guests will leave your wedding with a practical memento that will remind them of you every time they make a note.

DIY: Bunting Favors

June 8, 2011

How cute would these little bunting strings look wrapped around a homemade jar of jam or other crafty wedding favor? They are super simple to make, and you can customize them to match your wedding colors/patterns. Love!

Cuckoo for cages

February 18, 2011

Because I’m ready for bird chirping weather, I find a birdcage post very fitting for Libby Land today!  There is just something about a birdcage that I find extremely charming. I love when birdcages are incorporated into a wedding, and I’m not talking about using them for collecting cards. Been there, done that.  You know me, I like untraditional… so cage up some creativity and use those cages elsewhere…

See, I told you…. charming, right?  I love theses cages hung from the tree. Very vintage.  I wish that was MY reception table!

found at Loft Apt

The ribbon used in this set up gives the hanging cages a different feel.   I like that you can use ribbon to coordinate with your wedding colors or spray paint the birdcages to match your palette.

How cute are these?  I like how various shapes and colors are used.

Oh, so cute… a birdcage centerpiece.  LOVE IT!

Another sweet idea, use your birdcage centerpiece to hold your table number.

Here, birdcages were lined up on a long table.  You could keep them uniform as shown above, or spray them different colors for a mismatched look.

These cages hung over the dance floor are spectacular.  How creative.  I love how they illuminate the evening.  Very romantic!!  Who knew birdcages could be so lovely?  Okay, I DID…  but now, hopefully you do too! :)

Project Terrarium

February 4, 2011

I love all things eco-friendly!  So, imagine my delight when I came across these little gems… DIY terrariums.  I definitely want to make one or two (or ten) for around the house but thought they would also be fabulous for an eco wedding.

Here are a few I fell in love with…

Cake Stand Terrarium

Img_0422

How gorgeous would this terrarium be as a wedding centerpiece.  It’s simple and perfect just the way it is, but you could add ribbon, or jewels or place wedding inspired items inside to dress it up a bit.

I found this at Garden Rant.  They didn’t have a tutorial but suggested you visit, The Wool Food Mama for one.  I second that suggestion.  Not only is the tutorial worth viewing but there is other terrarium inspo over there.  Be sure to check it out!

Pickle Jar Terrarium

I LOVE pickles! Some may even consider me slightly addicted.  So this is a must-make for me.  Why not, I have all the ingredients right at home and if you know me, you know my motto… “If it’s free, it’s for me”!

Check out the simple instructions included in the photo, which I found at Poetic Home.  For the full tutorial visit Wary Meyers’ site.  While you are there be sure to look at all of the other ”tossed and found” designs.  Excellent use of  “trashed” items.

Salt and Pepper Terrarium

Are these not adorable?  I think these would make super sweet wedding favors.  They would look great sitting at each place setting and I just love the color of the marbles on top.  Although, it may be easier for transport to keep the shaker top on, the marble gives it extra character.

I found the photo at Earth Friendly Weddings.  They have other cute “baby” terrarium ideas so if you’re interested be sure to stop by their site.

Light Bulb Terrariums

Another fabulous favor idea!  These may just be my favorites!  I always appreciate a seating card that doubles as a favor. So of course, I fell instantly in love with these.  I found these little cuties at A Subtle Revelry.  Their tutorial is terrific and definitely a must-see.

And while we are talking light bulbs, I came across this too.  Not quite a terrarium but super cool and just as cute.
