Keys Please

April 8, 2011

A certain someone had mentioned the possible use of skeleton keys at her reception.  Well, I love the idea and hope this inspires.  This post is for you, dear friend. ♥

These key Save the Dates are lovely and seem fairly simple to make.

The keys on the table are charming.  Would be an adorable addition to any table.

Oh my geez… I love these keys.  The delicate ribbon fastened to the cold metal key is pure perfection.

I have seen several types of key bottle openers but this one is my favorite.  It’s not cheap or gaudy like some are.  These are great favors for a key inspired wedding.  To order them follow the link below.

Over at The Swelle Life this cake was featured under a post titled Cupcake Monday! The ‘Most Beautiful Cake I’ve Ever Seen’ Edition.  Well, I TOTALLY AGREE!  This cake adorned with a skeleton key is darling and delightful.  I wouldn’t want to cut it.

Hmmm…  I wonder if I couldn’t make one of these key necklaces myself.  Gorgeous, isn’t it?

Wouldn’t this make a cute ring pillow?

Doily decor

March 1, 2011

Doilies.  They remind me of my grandmother, crocheting, and a stuffy tea room.  Now, don’t get me wrong… I LOVE my grandma, but doilies… Yuck!  It’s one of those words that make me cringe.  Let me rephrase, used to make me cringe.

I used to think of them as frilly, old and granny-ish.  Now, I find them vintage, sweet, and charming.  Delicate and romantic.  A PERFECT decor option, especially for weddings.  Sorry grandmas, we’re taking your beloved doilies to the next level.  Let me show you what I mean…

Don’t keep the doilies on the table, use them to dress up your seating card display.  FABULOUS!

found at The Knot

Is this not adoilyable… I doily menu!  A simple way to dress up each place setting.  If you love this as much as I do, visit My Hands Made It for a quick doily menu tutorial.

These doily cupcake wrappers are sooo cute.  They’d be perfect for any wedding, bridal shower, or party.  If you would like to try these there is a tutorial and free template over at Intimate Weddings

Another idea I adore and can’t wait to try… doily drink umbrellas.  A must have for a summer wedding or any outdoor party you may be having.  Check out the DIY instructions at Wedloft.

A doily bowl?!  Wouldn’t this be a darling centerpiece idea?  If you want to try making one of these, visit Design*Sponge for step by step instructions.  I even bet, if you’re crafty enough, you could turn this beauty upside down, add a light bulb, string it up and make a lovely doily lamp.  Yes, consider that a challenge! :)

This is what I’ll leave you with today… these lovely doily lanterns.  These would look great hanging in a tented reception.  For a tutorial visit Vermont Vows.

Pattern it Pretty

February 28, 2011

I LOVE a wedding palette that incorporates a pattern.  I love the texture it adds, the statement it makes and the stylish touch it gives.  You can base your palette around a print or find one in your color scheme.  Either way, a pattern can transform your wedding look into something spectacular.

Here is some wedding pattern inspo for you:

Veils

October 13, 2009

I love veils and there are so many choices when selecting a veil to complete your look. Here are some of my favorites…

Blusher
A blusher has two parts, one that covers your face and the other hangs behind your head. Very traditional and the bride is typically unveiled by her father at the end of the aisle. (makes for great pictures…wink)

Fly away
Fly away veils consist of multiple layers of very loose netting that flies with the wind. I love this look for outdoor weddings. I think every girl wants a flying veil picture. (or is that just me?) pofa_veil_flyAway

Birdcage
I just think a birdcage is so sassy and give you a great vintage feel. The veil usually tends to go no further than the chin and is made from wide-open weave of netting. il_430xN_92314303
